Jim English, who survived a gunshot wound to the head in a shooting by a fired employee at General Dynamics, was released Tuesday from UC San Diego Medical Center.
English, 52, was shot by Robert Earl Mack during a routine grievance hearing at the plant on Pacific Highway. Mack, 42, was a machinist who was fired for poor attendance. English was Mack’s supervisor.
Mack, who armed himself for the Jan. 24 hearing, also shot and fatally wounded Michael Konz, 25, a human resources counselor at the plant.
UC San Diego Medical Center officials said English will begin a rehabilitation program at Sharp Memorial Hospital.
Mack was charged in the shootings and is at the Downtown County Jail, awaiting a preliminary hearing.
