For three generations the Socolow family has been supplying bakeries and restaurants. Now brothers Pierre and Sam have decided to make their professional baking products available to home cooks. Their 10-page catalogue, The Baker’s Find, offers more than 300 products for bakers. Each item is guaranteed to be the best of its kind; if you don’t agree you may return it for a full refund.

A few of the selections: professional-size packages of yeast (one pound for $2.99); eclair boxes (two for 25 cents); 10-inch cake doilies (5 cents each), and 1,000-foot rolls of aluminum foil ($29.95). There are also unusual extracts; a can of bay leaves so big it’s called “ocean of bay leaves” ($2.99); flavorings, colorings, nuts and dried fruits; homemade muffin mixes; exotic baking chips (such as lemon and cherry at $2.59 per pound), and a major selection of cake-decorating supplies.
