Garth Brooks maintains his stranglehold on the No. 1 spot of the Billboard magazine pop album chart with “Ropin’ the Wind.” With his “No Fences” at No. 4, the Top Five remains his personal playground. Michael Jackson figured his single “Remember the Time”--No. 4 on the pop singles chart--might boost his “Dangerous” album into the top spot, but it still languishes in second.

* Vanessa Williams’ “The Comfort Zone” (No. 47) has been one of the fastest-rising albums on the chart in the past few weeks. Her ballad single, “Save the Best for Last,” shot up the pop singles chart this week from No. 20 to No. 11.
