ATTENTION SHIFT: The county’s Human Relations Commission often focuses on civil rights issues. But its newest member, Charlene Turco of Irvine, has a wider agenda in mind. She was a member of the county’s Commission on the Status of Women, dissolved by county supervisors last year in budget woes. . . . “I’d like to bring some of that perspective to the job. Women’s roles have changed,” she says, noting, for instance, that “single working mothers are hit hard by the recession.”
