THOUSAND OAKS : 2 Mail Theft Suspects Released
Two men arrested on suspicion of mail theft at the Janss Mall have been released pending further investigation, authorities said.
Johnathan Morey, 22, and Richard Lange, 25, were arrested Monday evening after deputies patrolling on foot reported seeing a man stuff envelopes into his jacket at a postal facility.
Postal Inspector Al Bigelow said the two men were released the next morning when he decided that insufficient evidence existed to pursue charges.
Several key witnesses were unavailable for interviews at the time, but they will still be interviewed, Bigelow said.
In a previous article, The Times reported that Morey had posted bail before being released and that an arraignment had been scheduled.
But the bail and arraignment were associated with unrelated traffic offenses, Detective Greg Seeba said.
