MOORPARK : Businesses Offered License Fee Amnesty
- Share via
Moorpark city officials are offering temporary amnesty to businesses that are delinquent paying licensing fees.
The City Council has decided to allow businesses that have never complied with the city’s 1989 business licensing law to register at a reduced rate until April 6.
Because the business license costs $30 a year, the more than 100 business owners who have never registered owe the city $90 each. During the amnesty period, these businesses have to pay only $30 to erase their delinquencies.
After April 6, businesses that have still not registered face possible prosecution, said Donald P. Reynolds Jr., the city’s management analyst. Conviction for violating the law could lead to a $500 fine and a six-month jail term, Reynolds said.
