Matt Othick of Arizona tied a school record with seven three-point baskets as the No. 5 Wildcats defeated Temple, 66-60, Sunday in a nonconference game in the Suncoast Dome at St. Petersburg, Fla.

Arizona trailed, 30-27, at halftime before Othick began the second half of the made-for-television matchup by making four consecutive three-point shots.

“Once I got a couple, the guys started looking for me and giving me the ball,” said Othick, who made seven of nine three-point shots. “I haven’t felt that kind of rhythm in a long time.

“I usually don’t take more than five or six shots a game. But the guys kept giving me the ball and telling me to shoot.”

Othick, who averages 9.8 points a game, finished with 23--all but three in the second half. His only two-point basket came off a drive that helped the Wildcats clinch the victory in the last two minutes.

Chris Mills scored 13 points and Wayne Womack had 10 for Arizona, which bounced back from Thursday’s 77-74 loss to Arizona State.

Aaron McKie scored 23 points for Temple (14-10), which made only 31% of its shots.

“Our big question mark has always been our shooting,” Temple Coach John Chaney said. “We haven’t been consistent all year.”

The game was part of a doubleheader that drew a crowd of 17,682 despite being televised locally and nationally.

DePaul upset No. 16 Florida State, 85-75, in the first game.

Oregon State 77, Washington 67--Scott Haskin scored 22 points to lead the Beavers to the Pacific 10 Conference victory at Seattle.

Barry scored nine points and Haskin had six during a 15-4 run by Oregon State midway through the second half. The Beavers trailed, 45-42, with 13:31 left, before scoring nine consecutive points. Barry made two three-point shots to give Oregon State a 57-49 lead with 9:07 remaining.

The Huskies got no closer than six points the rest of the way.
