OP WINTERSURF PRO : Parsons Loses Lead; Colorado’s Delaney Wins Title

Mike Parsons of San Clemente, who led after the surfing portion of the Op Wintersurf Pro event, finished tied for 12th in the overall standings after the snowboarding competition Sunday at Bear Mountain Ski Resort in Big Bear Lake.

Kevin Delaney of Boulder, Colo., won the snowboarding competition and took the overall title as well, winning $3,000. He was 13th in the surfing that took place Saturday at Huntington Beach. Parson finished 27th in snowboarding.

Gary Elkerton of Mooloolaba, Australia, was second in the surfing and 17th in the snowboarding to finish second overall, worth $1,100. Greg Tomlinson of Dana Point was ninth in surfing and 13th in snowboarding to finished third overall, good for $700.

Shannon Melhuse and Kaipo Guerrero, both of Laguna Niguel, tied for fourth overall and won $200 each.
