Local Video Unit in Charge of Trial Coverage
Comcast Cablevision, like other cable systems in Orange County, does not carry Court TV, the cable network that carries live gavel-to-gavel coverage of major trials. But the Comcast video production unit, based in Seal Beach, will be in charge of Court TV’s coverage of the Rodney King beating trial, which opens next week in Simi Valley.
The Comcast production unit has produced trial coverage for Court TV before, most notably the recent proceedings against former Lincoln Savings owner Charles Keating. The unit also has produced footage for sports channels ESPN and Prime Ticket.
The western regional office of Comcast is in Santa Ana. In Orange County, the system serves Santa Ana, Newport Beach, Seal Beach, Fullerton, Buena Park and Placentia. Some Comcast subscribers actually may begin receiving Court TV in the next few months, officials say.
