THOUSAND OAKS : City Proposes Hike in Golf Course Fees

Share

Thousand Oaks officials have proposed increasing fees for playing at a city-owned golf course.

Under the proposal, the $9 greens fee at Los Robles Golf Course would go to $12 for residents of the city. On weekends, residents would pay $15 to play a round. But for non- residents, fees would increase to $15 during the week and $20 weekends.

Councilman Alex Fiore, who serves on the City Council committee that suggested the new fees, said they have not been increased since 1988. Officials are considering raising fees because golfers have complained that too many people are playing on the course, he said.

Last year, golfers played 113,000 rounds, making Los Robles one of the busiest courses in the county.

Even with the proposed increase, the fee to play 18 holes of golf at Los Robles would remain among the lowest in Ventura County.

Residents of the city would also be given preference over non-residents in reserving a spot on the golf course. Non-residents would have to call six days ahead to play. Golf cart fees would also increase from $13 to $16.

The council will consider the new fees at a hearing March 17.
