Tackling a Record at Castaic

Share

To bass fishermen, the warm weather signals the beginning of a new season, and with hopes at Castaic Lake for the first all-tackle world record since 1932, many are finding the Los Angeles County reservoir the place to go.

The object is to better George Perry’s decades-old catch of a 22-pound 4-ounce largemouth.

Best catches of the week: A 13-pound bass by Dennis Deber of Chicago; a 12- and 6-pounder by Gary Worth of Arizona and a 10-pound 1-ounce bass caught by John Calvin of Temecula.
