COSTA MESA — “The Phantom of the Opera” is coming to Costa Mesa. But walk, don’t run, to the box office--you have plenty of time.
If all goes according to plan, a road version of “Phantom” will materialize at the Orange County Performing Arts Center 2 1/2 years from now--in July, 1994--for four weeks, maybe longer. No casting has been announced, and tickets will not go on sale until 1993.
The engagement will be part of a 20-city U.S. tour to begin in December in Seattle, according to the producers. The tour will have stopped in 15 of the cities by the time it reaches Costa Mesa.
