Inmate Escapes From Work Crew

Share

Sheriff’s deputies searched unsuccessfully Friday for an inmate who escaped from an afternoon work crew.

Marcos Villa Fuentes, 20, reportedly escaped between 11:30 a.m. and 12:40 p.m. while working outside at the James A. Musick Branch Jail, which holds minimum security risk prisoners. Fuentes was discovered missing during a count of the work crew after lunch, said Capt. Andy Romero.

Fuentes is the third prisoner in as many days to escape from a county-run prison. On Wednesday, two inmates--Alejandro Dumayuga Gomez, 29, and Alejandro Esquivel Dominguez, 27--reportedly crawled through a hole in the fence at the Theo Lacy Branch Jail in Orange.

They were still at large Friday.

Fuentes, who authorities said was not a danger to the public, is described as 5-foot-8 and about 145 pounds. He was wearing blue jeans and a blue shirt.

Fuentes, arrested by San Clemente police on Feb. 10, was convicted of car theft, receiving stolen property and possession of burglary tools, Romero said.
