SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO : New Administrator Joins Mission

Gerald J. Miller, a management consultant from Santa Ana, has taken over as administrator of Mission San Juan Capistrano, replacing Robert McCreary, who resigned last summer amid charges of sexual harassment.
Miller will oversee the day-to-day operations of the 216-year-old institution and is considered its top lay person. He will report to the mission’s pastor, Msgr. Paul M. Martin.
Miller was most recently a partner in a management consulting group. Before that, he was a partner in an investment banking group. He is a graduate of Georgetown University and American University.
McCreary, who spent 17 months as the mission’s top administrator, resigned last June, two weeks after a civil complaint was filed against him by one of his employees, a data-entry operator at the mission. That matter was settled out of court in December, the employee’s attorney said Tuesday.
Administrative consultant John Sauer, who had served as mission administrator in the interim, has returned to his practice in the private sector.
