A woman accused of acting as her teen-age son’s lookout while he defaced downtown businesses with red spray-paint was sentenced to 15 days in jail and ordered to spend 250 hours cleaning up graffiti downtown.

Jean Moran, 37, pleaded guilty Monday before Judge Harry Elias to malicious mischief and battery on a police officer for kicking the arresting officer in the groin.

She was arrested Feb. 24 with her 15-year-old son as he allegedly spray-painted a wall outside a business. Sheriff’s deputies said Moran was acting as her son’s lookout.

Sheriff’s deputies have linked the woman’s son, who is being tried in Juvenile Court, to at least eight other alleged acts of graffiti vandalism.
