Finally, Lunker Trout Get Down to Business

Irvine and Santa Ana River lakes, known for their lunker trout, lived up to the billing during the past week as the large rainbows finally began to feed.
Scott Pacourek of Fullerton used a plug at the Rainbow Basin spillway at Santa Ana River Lakes to catch a 13-pound 8-ounce rainbow. Roy Ferro of West Covina, fishing the same lake, took a 10-6 trout on Velveeta. The biggest fish at Irvine was a 9-4 rainbow caught by Kay Nadeau of Garden Grove.
