MEN’S TENNIS
Top-ranked UCLA swept unranked University of San Diego in the No. 2 through No. 6 singles spots without losing a set as the Bruins clobbered the Toreros, 5-0, at UCLA (9-2).
Although rain stopped the remainder of the matches from being played, the minimum number--five--had been completed. Jose Luis Noriega, USD’s top player, was leading top-ranked Mark Knowles, 6-3, 3-6, 4-2, when it started to rain.
USD fell to 6-2.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
Southwestern College meets Compton College tonight at 7:30 in the second round of the California Community College playoffs. Southwestern, seeded No. 12 and 91-84 winners against Barstow Saturday, travels to fifth-seeded Compton. The Apaches are 25-8.
