Willard B. Hage, Former President of Dairy Company, Dies at 95

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday for Willard B. Hage Jr., former president of Hage’s Ltd., which for many years was one of the largest San Diego ice cream and dairy products manufacturers and distributors.

Hage died Friday of natural causes. He was 95.

He ran Hage’s Ltd., founded in 1891 by his father, from 1919 until his retirement in 1961. The company merged with Foremost Dairies of San Francisco in 1954.

A native of San Diego, Hage graduated from Russ High School, later renamed San Diego High School, and he studied at the University of California at Davis. He was also a member of the Zoological Society of San Diego and the San Diego Rowing Club.

In 1921, Hage married Sara McCrady, who died in 1970.

Hage’s survivors include his niece, Virginia Lynch Grady of La Jolla, and three nephews, Fred S. Hage Jr. of Point Loma, Richard H. Lynch of Point Loma and Russell H. Thomas of Rancho Bernardo.

Memorial services will be held at Point Loma Community Presbyterian Church. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Paul’s Health Care Center, the Rees-Stealy Research Foundation, or the donor’s favorite charity.
