Mission Viejo Rapist Sued for $2 Million by a Victim

A victim of convicted rapist Paul William Jensen filed a lawsuit against him Wednesday seeking $2 million in damages.

Jensen, 48, of Mission Viejo, was convicted last November of the rape and assault of two women in the parking lots of Orange County shopping centers in 1990 and 1991.

He is in Orange County Jail awaiting sentencing. He faces more then 80 years in prison.

According to the lawsuit, the victim was subjected “to cruel and unjust hardship” because of Jensen’s attack. She is seeking damages for lost wages, medical expenses, property damage and emotional distress, among other things.

The victim, whose name was being withheld, was attacked March 5, 1991, according to her lawsuit. Jensen hid in the victim’s van parked at Laguna Hills Mall and attacked her when she returned from shopping, the lawsuit said.

Inside the van, Jensen threatened the victim with a knife and a gun, then raped her, the lawsuit said.

After the assault, Jensen told her that he knew where she lived and threatened to harm her and her family “if she identified him to police or testified against him,” the lawsuit stated.

The victim testified against Jensen at his trial.

Jensen, a former computer salesman, had previously been convicted of sexually assaulting four other women he had met in bars or through newspaper ads.

James R. Burlison, the victim’s attorney, could not be reached for comment Wednesday. It was unclear what assets, if any, Jensen has.
