Nike on the Move: Nike Inc. will open a 30,000-square-foot, high-tech retail outlet in a new retail- and entertainment-oriented shopping center in Costa Mesa in November. The Nike Town store--the third of its kind in the nation--will display the athletic apparel and footwear maker’s full line of products in what Nike calls a “retail theater.” Embedded in the floor of the swimwear area, for example, will be video screens showing underwater scenes to make shoppers feel as if they are in an aquatic environment. The Triangle Center, where Nike plans to put its Orange County store, is still under construction. The center, at the intersection of Harbor and Newport boulevards, is scheduled to open this spring.
