All American Recalling Quick Stirs Food Products

Some complain that modern, mass-produced food products sometimes taste like plastic, but in this case they may be literally right.

All American Gourmet Co. in Orange said Friday that it is voluntarily recalling three varieties of its Quick Stirs frozen stir-fry meals.

All American, a unit of giant Chicago-based food manufacturer Kraft Inc., said a pasta supplier may have inadvertently left bits of plastic in some packages on the supplier’s production line.

The company is recalling 11-ounce plastic bags of Quick Stirs brand Oriental Vegetables and Noodles with Chicken, Fettuccine with Chicken and Herb Sauce, and Shrimp Scampi and Vegetables with Linguine.

The Quick Stirs meals are not made in Orange, Kraft said.

No injuries have been reported, but the company urged consumers to get a full refund by returning those products to the stores where they were bought or mailing the proof-of-purchase label to All American at P.O. Box 14094, Orange, Calif. 92613.

Kraft is test-marketing the Quick Stirs brand in 17 Western states, including California. It has been test-marketed in Southern California since January of last year.
