Funeral services were conducted this week for Marjorie Holland Kinkaid Thatcher, longtime owner of the Swallows Inn.

Mrs. Thatcher died Feb. 29 at Samaritan Medical Center in San Clemente of complications from lung cancer. She was 73.

Mrs. Thatcher, a 50-year member of the Daughters of American Revolution, was a native of Los Angeles who moved with her husband, Walter R. Thatcher, to Dana Point in 1954. The couple owned and operated the old Dana Point Hardware Store in the La Plaza center until they sold it in 1972.

In 1980, Mrs. Thatcher opened a Western-wear store next door to the Swallows Inn, Swallows West. She closed the store in 1984.

Graveside services for Mrs. Thatcher were held Thursday at the Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona del Mar. She is survived by her daughter, Tacy Lee of Dana Point, and three grandchildren.
