THOUSAND OAKS : Ad Saleswoman, 36, Is Reported Missing

A Thousand Oaks woman who friends say lived an orderly, predictable life has been reported missing after she failed to report to work and missed a Bible study session, authorities said.

Nancy Lorraine Huter, 36, who lived with a roommate in Thousand Oaks, was reported missing by her parents Wednesday, less than 24 hours after her last known business appointment in Canoga Park, Ventura County Sheriff’s Deputy Ed Wyand said.

Associates described Huter, an ad saleswoman with Val-Pak direct mail advertisers in San Fernando Valley, as responsible and dedicated to her work.

“She lived by her Dayrunner (appointment book), and did not deviate from her schedule,” said former co-worker David Lavender, who added that Huter routinely checked for messages five times a day.

Huter, a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses church, gave no indication to friends that she might leave the area, Wyand said.

“I haven’t found any logical, reasonable explanation for why she disappeared,” said Wyand, who added that no evidence of foul play has been discovered.

Huter’s parents reported her disappearance to the Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday, saying that Huter’s roommate, Leslie Morgan, was also concerned about her. They told deputies that their daughter was not the kind of person to miss appointments or remain out of touch with her family.

The last confirmed contact with Huter occurred between 2:30 and 3 p.m. Tuesday at a Canoga Park outlet of Pioneer Chicken, which Huter had visited regularly for nearly a year, according to manager Kim Hwang.

The white Honda Accord hatchback that Huter drove to the appointment has not been located, Wyand said. The car’s license plate is 2DEK714.
