ANIMALS: The Best Friends Animal Sanctuary will...

ANIMALS: The Best Friends Animal Sanctuary will be at the Los Angeles Children’s Museum today to teach children proper pet care by introducing them to such topics as responsible pet ownership, grooming, exercise and feeding from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The kids will also have an opportunity to interact with the animals and add their own touches to a giant animal mural. Admission is $5 per person; children under 2 are free.

SPECIAL ELECTION: Ten candidates are running Tuesday in a special election to replace four recalled Bell Gardens City Council members. Polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

SCHOOL CUTS: The El Rancho Unified school board will hear testimony at 6 p.m. Tuesday on proposed cuts to music and other programs. The meeting is in the El Rancho High cafeteria, 6501 S. Passons Blvd., Pico Rivera.

CAREER GOALS: A free lecture called “Reaching Your Career Goals in ‘92” will be presented Monday by career development specialist Arlene Levin at the Ocean Park Library, 2601 Main Street, Santa Monica, 7:30 to 9 p.m. Reservations are not required.
