Mall With Latino Theme Could Lure Tourists
C. B. Leinberger’s starry-eyed formula for reviving downtown Los Angeles mentions casually, almost in passing, the real reason for its tragic deterioration, and why most local residents avoid it like the plague: “The city must enhance public safety and cleanliness.” Period.
But how do you do that?
How do you get rid of the hordes of homeless, winos, panhandlers and indigent?
How do you stop illegal immigration and overpopulation?
How are you going to clean the trash-littered streets?
How do you close all the schlocky stores?
Even calling in all the wandering shopping carts won’t do it!
Anyway, nice try, C.B.!
