Violence and Gun Control

Share

Dinkins, reacting to a 15-year-old student’s killing two fellow students says, “If you don’t have a gun, you will not use the gun.” It does seem clear that distributing more and more guns to an exponentially growing population has a good chance of destroying our country.

I wonder what sensible gun control might do for our deeply ailing economy. Suppose that life in the ghettos was returned to some degree of normalcy. It would then be safe to again open supermarkets, restaurants, movie theaters and other industries, which would employ many thousands of entrepreneurs, professionals and other workers. Relief rolls would be reduced. The benefits to our schools would be incalculable.

These random thoughts may be just the tip of the iceberg. Perhaps this unprecedented flow of blood in our streets is doing even more damage than we realize.
