A Van Nuys man was ordered Tuesday to stand trial in two killings--the shooting death of a man playing cards in a park and the stabbing death of a doughnut shop worker.

After a daylong hearing in Van Nuys Municipal Court, Judge Leslie A. Dunn ruled that there was probable cause to try Lanell C. Harris, 25, in the Jan. 3, 1991, killing of Marta Rodriquez, 35, at a Winchell’s Donut shop in South-Central Los Angeles.

The judge also ordered Harris to be tried in the Aug. 7 killing of Julian Contreras, 51, who was playing poker with friends at a Van Nuys park when he was shot to death.
