Glendora : South Hills Wilderness Area
The City Council voted 3 to 1 Tuesday to designate the South Hills area as a wilderness, prohibiting its use for business, housing and vehicles.
The hilly area of more than 200 acres is bordered by Big Dalton Wash on the north, Glendora Avenue on the west, the Foothill Freeway (210) on the south and a rough line formed by a series of cul-de-sacs extending from Hunters Trail on the east. It incorporates the area previously called South Hills Park.
The council intends only limited recreational activity in South Hills, designating it an “area” rather than “park” for fear of encouraging excessive use.
Councilman David Bodley voted against the plan because he said trail signs would draw people to the area. Councilman Bob Kuhn was absent.
