Long Beach : Proposals Sought for Art Exhibits at Blue Line Stops
- Share via
The Los Angeles County Transportation Commission is inviting artists to submit proposals for public art installations at Metro Blue Line stations in Long Beach. As part of the Art-for-Rail-Transit (A-R-T) program, the pieces will be incorporated into free-standing columns, or pylons, extending the length of the platforms. Each pylon is topped by a circular form, and artists selected for the program will create works to be installed in these spaces.
Works may be made in any durable medium, such as metal, glass, ceramics or porcelain enamel. Artists, who may work alone or collaborate as a team, should submit preliminary design concepts. Proposals are due April 30, and six finalists will be chosen.
A preliminary design workshop to help artists with their proposals will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center, 300 E. Ocean Blvd.
