LOS ANGELES : Market Ordered to Hire Security Guard
The Los Angeles City Council on Wednesday told the operators of a 7-Eleven market in Lake View Terrace to hire a security guard to patrol the premises nightly or lose their city liquor sales permit.
By a unanimous vote, the council also ordered the market at 11348 Sunburst St. to stop selling liquor after 11 p.m.
The conditions were imposed because of complaints from neighbors and from Councilman Ernani Bernardi, who represents the area, that the market has been a breeding ground for crime, drunken loitering and noise-making by teen-agers and homeless people.
Councilman Hal Bernson, chairman of the council’s planning committee, warned the market’s operators that if the restrictions are not followed, he would revoke the market’s conditional-use permit to sell liquor.
