Mike Berg’s infield single scored the tying run, and freshman C.J. Livernois scored the winning run on a wild throw on the same play to give La Quinta a 5-4 victory over El Toro, 5-4, in the third round of the Loara baseball tournament Wednesday.

Berg, making his first start since dislocating his shoulder on the first day of practice, had three hits for La Quinta (2-1). Livernois scored in the bottom of the sixth inning when El Toro shortstop Pat Antrim threw wildly to first on Berg’s infield hit.

Berg opened with base hits in the first and third innings and scored both times to give La Quinta a 3-1 lead. El Toro (1-2) took a 4-3 lead in the top of the sixth when Lutterloh hit a two-run double to left-center field.
