U.S. Education

As an American who has recently returned to the United States after eight years in Europe, I continue to be appalled at the lack of quality and direction of our educational system.
Your article “Making Do in Class” (Feb. 20), and a photo of a fourth-grader sweeping her classroom floor and teachers buying classroom materials, confirms why we will never again be world competitive and are becoming a second-rate nation.
Not only has our “Education President” failed us but our state and local leadership appear like clones.
