Winter’s Final Weekend to Go Out Like a Lamb

Spring jumped the gun by a week or so this year.

“It feels like spring,” Wilbur Shigehara, chief forecaster for the National Weather Service in San Diego, said Thursday.

Though spring officially begins on March 20, Shigehara said San Diego is already in the midst of the typical spring weather pattern--night and morning low clouds and sunny afternoons.

That typical spring pattern will be around all weekend, changing slightly for the cooler as the weekend progresses, Shigehara said. The change stems from the southern tip of a weak storm that should drop temperatures by a few degrees Sunday, but will not cause any rain, the forecaster said.

Along the coast, including downtown San Diego, the high temperature will be in the low 70s today, Shigehara said. The high will be in the upper 60s, the rest of the weekend, he said. At night, the low temperature will stay 50 to 57 degrees all weekend, Shigehara said.

The high temperature in the inland areas will peak at 75 today and hover in the low 70s the rest of the weekend, Shigehara said. The low temperatures this weekend is expected to be in the 45- to 52-degree range.

The temperature at the beaches will peak at near 63 today and Saturday, Shigehara said. On Sunday, the high will be 60, he said.

The mountain high will climb to 64 degrees today and will reach 60 degrees the rest of the weekend; the lows will be in the 30s all weekend, Shigehara said.

The deserts will have highs in the 80s and lows from 45 to 55 all weekend, he said.
