SEAL BEACH : Telethon Nets $5,400 for Animal Shelter

Share

City residents donated about $5,400 this week to keep the Animal Care Center running and help fund a planned expansion of the facility.

The money came by way of the city’s first telethon, which aired on Comcast Cablevision from 7 to 10 p.m. Wednesday. “Within the first half-hour, we had $1,800,” said Annelle Aviani, event planner and president of Friends of the Seal Beach Animal Care Center.

The largest contribution came from an unnamed resident who delivered a check for $1,000, said Aviani. Dog trainer Matthew Margolis of the National Institute of Dog Training donated $500 plus free obedience training for anyone adopting any of the center’s animals featured during the telethon.
