Goalie Kay Whitmore stopped 39 shots for his second consecutive shutout and Bobby Holik scored the game’s only goal with 7:19 remaining as the Hartford Whalers beat the Winnipeg Jets, 1-0, Friday night.

With Whitmore in goal, the Whalers beat the Kings, 4-0, Wednesday night.

Whitmore turned back 21 shots in the first period, then preserved the shutout as the Whalers killed a 4-minute high-sticking call against Yvon Corriveau with 4:30 remaining in regulation. In all, the Whalers killed seven power plays.

Holik got the game’s goal when his pass from behind the net hit the stick of goalie Stephane Beauregard and bounced back over the goal line. Otherwise, Beauregard was sharp in making 27 saves.
