OAK PARK : Council May Seek Study on Cityhood
The Oak Park Municipal Advisory Council at its meeting tonight will discuss whether it should hire a consultant to prepare a study on how cityhood would affect the area’s 15,000 residents.
The study would evaluate advantages and disadvantages of becoming an independent city, annexing to Thousand Oaks or remaining an unincorporated area of Ventura County, said advisory council member George Anterasian.
At least four consultants have applied to conduct the study, said Councilman Ron Stark.
“Nobody is proposing cityhood if it is going to cost the residents any more taxes than they pay now or (provide) any less service than they already get,” Stark said. “The whole idea is to get better services for what we’re paying now.”
The meeting is scheduled for 8 p.m. at the Oak Park Unified School District conference room on Conifer Street.
