SAN FERNANDO VALLEY : 3 Congressmen to Be ‘Super Delegates’
Los Angeles Reps. Anthony C. Beilenson, Howard L. Berman and Henry A. Waxman have been chosen as so-called “super delegates” to the Democratic National Convention in July.
The three veteran lawmakers were among 218 Democratic House members named by colleagues last week as uncommitted delegates to the presidential nominating convention in New York City on July 13-16. Aides to Beilenson, Berman and Waxman said Monday that the lawmakers have not yet decided to support a particular candidate.
The House Democrats, meeting in 12 regional caucuses, selected four-fifths of their 268 members to attend the convention. A total of 4,287 delegates, a majority selected through state primaries and caucuses, will formally select the party’s nominee.
