A commission that has made recommendations for reform of college and university sports urged Congress and state legislatures to “stand aside while college and university leaders complete the job.” Rep. Tom McMillen (D-Md.), a member of the Knight Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics and a former NBA player, said that “college presidents have far more control of college sports than ever before.”
