El Monte : ‘Fiesta of Books’ Planned

The El Monte-South El Monte Coordinating Council will sponsor a “Fiesta of Books” for local children from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the El Monte Community Center, 3130 N. Tyler Ave.
The fiesta will include book characters in costume, storytellers, and arts and crafts. The council and area school districts have been collecting books and cash donations to buy books for the event so that each child can go home with at least two books. Last year, 3,500 children attended the free event.
