Pomona : City to Buy Land for Dealer
The City Council, by a 4-3 vote, has agreed to spend $1 million in federal funds designated for eradication of blight to buy property along the San Bernardino Freeway (10) where a Ford dealership will relocate.
Council members Tomas Ursua, Nell Soto and Paula Lantz voted against the proposal, which is aimed at retaining the Quality Ford dealership, now on Holt Avenue, by providing a new site at Towne Avenue north of the freeway.
City Administrator Julio Fuentes said the city’s Redevelopment Agency has no other way of funding the relocation project, which will retain jobs and sales tax revenue in the city.
