Athletes Should Not Promote Stereotypes

The Charles Barkley story presents an interesting insight into the subject of race prejudice. Some of the people who have been victims of this type of bias may have latent hostility toward certain members of society. Others such as Barkley are more candid and manifest blatant hostility.

Then there are a few individuals such as Martin Luther King, Ernie Banks and Magic Johnson, who, although subjected to racial prejudice, somehow were able to not let it destroy their positive outlook on life. These are the people who help lead the rest of us to a color-blind society, where people are judged on their own ability and merit.
