NBC’s previous efforts at prime-time news magazines:

1. “First Tuesday” (Jan. 7, 1969 to Sept. 7, 1971). A two-hour monthly, anchored for the first year by Sander Vanocur, then by Garrick Utley.

2. “Chronolog” (Oct. 22, 1971 to July 28, 1972). A two-hour monthly, anchored by Utley.

3. “First Tuesday” (Sept. 5, 1972 to Aug. 7, 1973). An hour monthly, with no regular anchor.

4. “NBC News Presents a Special Edition” (Nov. 11, 1973 to Aug. 1, 1974). No regular anchor.

5. “Weekend” (Dec. 2, 1978 to April 22, 1979). Anchored by Lloyd Dobyns and Linda Ellerbee. Began as a monthly late-night show in October, 1974, with Dobyns as the lone anchor.

6. “Prime Time Sunday” (June 24, 1979 to Dec. 23, 1979). Anchored by Tom Snyder. When it changed nights, the title changed too: “Prime Time Saturday” (Dec. 29, 1979 to July 5, 1980).

7. “NBC Magazine With David Brinkley” (Sept. 26, 1980 to Sept. 18, 1981). When Brinkley left to join ABC, the program became “NBC Magazine” (Sept. 25, 1981 to July 31, 1982), with no anchor.

8. “Monitor” (March 12, 1983 to Aug. 13, 1983). Anchored by Dobyns.

9. “First Camera” (Sept. 18, 1983 to April 1, 1984). Anchored by Dobyns.

10 “Summer Sunday, USA” (July 1, 1984 to Sept. 9, 1984). Anchored by Ellerbee and Andrea Mitchell.

11 “American Almanac” (Aug. 6, 1985 to Jan. 27, 1986). Anchored by Roger Mudd.

12. “1986” (June 10, 1986 to Dec. 30, 1986). Anchored by Mudd and Connie Chung.

13. “Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” (Aug. 2, 1989 to Nov. 28, 1989). Anchored by Maria Shriver, Chuck Scarborough and Mary Alice Williams.

14. “Real Life With Jane Pauley” (Five summer specials in 1990, then weekly Jan. 6, 1991 to Nov. 1, 1991).
