Acton Councilman Faces Recall Vote

Share

A member of the Acton Town Council will face a recall election next month because critics claim that he cannot serve on the council while he is publisher of a local newspaper.

A committee of the nine-member Town Council has set an April 4 recall election for Charles Brink, 51, who has served on the advisory group since its formation in 1989. Brink maintains that the recall is groundless and that he has no conflict of interest in publishing the Vanguard News while he is on the council.

Brink, a slow-growth advocate, gained notoriety in October, 1990, when prosecutors filed six charges against him, alleging that he tore down several hundred real estate signs. He pleaded no contest to one misdemeanor vandalism count and was sentenced to 100 days of community service last year.
