Hart 12, Schurr 4--Doug Distaso set the tone for the Foothill League game with a leadoff home run to trigger a five-run first inning for host Hart.

Distaso, a senior right-hander, also pitched a six-hitter to improve to 3-0. He struck out five, walked two and also stole home, his 10th stolen base of the season.

Ted Kiester, Mike Adachi, Aron Miyata and Distaso had doubles for Hart (8-1, 3-0), which had 13 hits.

L.A. Baptist 14, Templeton 2--Senior right-hander Jason Loverton, making his first start, threw a three-hitter in a nonleague game at Templeton.

Loverton struck out nine and walked two. Dana Berg and Tim Shoemake each had two hits, scored twice and drove in two runs for L.A. Baptist (4-4).

SOFTBALL

Campbell Hall 8, St. Monica 7--Casey Cannon had two hits and was the winning pitcher for Campbell Hall (5-2) in a nonleague game at home.

Kelly Stambaugh was two for three for Campbell Hall.

Burbank 5, Bell-Jeff 0--Mandy Villasenor and Michelle Pierce combined on a two-hitter as Burbank (7-4) won a nonleague game at Bell-Jeff.

Angela Pennington went two for four with a double and a run batted in for Burbank. Garlyn Wacker also had two hits.

BOYS’ TRACK

Birmingham 114, Sylmar 12--Although their coaches told them to hold back in anticipation of tonight’s Pasadena Games at Occidental College, Patrick Abdelkerim and Raymond Banner of Birmingham posted impressive marks in leading the host Braves to victory in the Valley Pac-8 Conference meet.

Abdelkerim won the 100 meters in 10.8 seconds and the 200 in 22.2. Teammate Tony Serpas placed second in both races with times of 10.8 and 22.3.

Banner, the defending City Section champion in the 110-meter high hurdles, won that event in 14.8 and the 300 intermediate hurdles in 39.8.

Banner, Serpas, Mike Moguel and Abdelkerim won the 400 relay in 42.9, and Moguel followed that with a victory in the 400 (51.3).

Birmingham is 2-0 in league meets.
