REVERSAL OF FORTUNE: The Bell Gardens City Council is scheduled to consider overturning an ordinance passed by recalled council members that guarantees up to six months’ severance pay to some high-ranking city administrators. The council will meet at 5 p.m. Monday at Ross Auditorium, 6662 Loveland St., Bell Gardens.
LOOMING CUTS: Layoffs loom for 200 teachers and other employees of the financially strapped Montebello Unified School District when the board considers nearly $12 million in cuts Tuesday, 7 p.m., in the Montebello High auditorium, 2100 W. Cleveland Ave., Montebello.
VOLUNTEER TRAINING: The El Monte Historical Society Museum is sponsoring a free six-week class on how to give guided tours of the museum. The class is scheduled at the museum, 3150 North Tyler Ave., on Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m. For more information, call (818) 444-3813.
GANG TALK: Father Gregory Boyle, a Catholic priest known for his work with gangs, will lead a panel discussion on Latino, black, Asian and white supremacist gangs. The workshop is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Claremont Church of Christ, Congregational.
