J. William (Bill) Hayes, who served as legal counsel and business manager to many notables in the entertainment industry through his prestigious Executive Business Management Inc., died Monday night at his West Los Angeles home.

He was 70 and death was attributed to a heart attack.

Hayes, who also founded the Los Angeles law firm of Hayes & Hume, represented many of the entertainment industry’s best-known producers, writers, directors, studio executives and performing artists.

Among them were producers Aaron Spelling, David Gerber and David Wolper and actors Robert Stack and Lloyd Bridges. In 1980 his records pertaining to Spelling’s ownership of the TV series “Charlie’s Angels” were among those seized by auditors amid accusations that the show’s producers and the ABC network were siphoning off profits to other ventures.

The family requested that any memorial contributions be made in Hayes’ name to the Dream Street Foundation, 9536 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 310, Beverly Hills 90212. The foundation supports a camp for terminally ill children.
