In Century League volleyball:

Valencia 3, Canyon 0--Jon Young had 11 kills and six aces for host Valencia (7-1, 2-0), which won, 15-1, 15-7, 15-0. Doug Finnell added 21 assists for the Tigers.

In the South Coast League:

Capistrano Valley 3, San Clemente 0--Eric McKelvie had 41 assists and Aaron Garcia had 18 kills for host Capistrano Valley (7-1, 2-0) in a 15-7, 15-11, 15-6 sweep. Bryan Lawson had 16 kills also for Capistrano Valley.

Irvine 3, Mission Viejo 0--Chris Swanner had 10 kills and Brady Hamilton five aces for Irvine (8-0, 2-0) in a 15-4, 15-0, 15-12 sweep.

In Empire League volleyball:

Esperanza 3, Los Alamitos 0--Outside hitter Brad Goldston had 17 kills for Esperanza (6-2, 2-0) in a 15-9, 15-1, 15-5 sweep. Los Alamitos is 1-1.

In Sunset League volleyball:

Ocean View 3, Santa Ana 0--Brian Grace had 13 kills for visiting Ocean View (3-5, 2-3) in a 15-2, 15-13, 15-10 sweep.

Marina 3, Westminster 1--Sophomore outside hitter Mike Wirthlin had 13 kills and freshman Steve Cavella had 42 assists for Marina (4-3, 2-2) which won, 16-14, 3-15, 15-8, 15-3.

In Sunset League softball:

Huntington Beach 10, Santa Ana 0 (6 innings, mercy rule)--Stefanie Noffsinger had a perfect game going into the sixth inning but hit a batter. Noffsinger finished with a no-hitter and had 10 strikeouts. Danielle Bowman and Erin Link each had doubles for Huntington Beach (2-5-1, 2-1).

In Academy League softball:

Liberty Christian 17, Heritage Christian 7 (6 innings, mercy rule)--Sara Anderson had two hits, four runs scored and two RBIs for host Liberty Christian (4-2, 2-0).

St. Margaret’s 9, Cal Lutheran 3--Sam Ruh had two RBIs and pitcher Colette McLaughlin improved her record to 4-1 for host St. Margaret’s (6-1, 1-1).

In the Cypress Tournament:

Foothill 2, Mater Dei 1 (9 innings)--Leeann Gonzalez had nine strikeouts in helping 10th-ranked Foothill upset top-ranked Mater Dei at Cypress High. With two outs in the ninth, Michelle Churnock drove in the winning run for Foothill. Gonzalez, a senior, hit a triple to lead off the third inning for Foothill (7-4). Veronica Saldivar drove in a run for Mater Dei (8-1-1) in the seventh.

In the Garden Grove softball tournament:

Garden Grove 8, Sunny Hills 0--Duffy White pitched a five-hitter, and Nakia Houston hit a home run and a triple, scored three runs and drove in two for Garden Grove (6-1-1) in Division II pool play.

In nonleague softball:

University 1-6, San Clemente 0-5--Each game was decided by international tiebreaker in the eighth inning. In the first game, Liz Whiteley singled home Heather Toomey for host University. In the second game, Heather Campbell’s two-run double provided the winning runs for University (7-6).

Dana Hills 5, Santa Margarita 0--Kelly Manley pitched a no-hitter, striking out two, to lead Dana Hills (3-4) at home. Danielle Martin had a double and two RBIs for Dana Hills.

Woodbridge 3, Irvine 1--Lisa Weaver went three for three with a double and two RBIs for visiting Woodbridge (11-3). Alison Ward (7-1) had five strikeouts and gave up one walk and four hits for Woodbridge. Irvine is 7-2.

Los Amigos 11, Long Beach Saint Anthony 0 (5 innings, mercy rule)--Junior Robyn Campbell pitched a three-hitter for Los Amigos (2-7).

Los Alamitos 10, Artesia 0--Pitcher Kandi Rehard pitched a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts to lead host Los Alamitos. It was Rehard’s first victory over the season against two losses.

In Olympic League tennis:

Brethren Christian 11, Whittier Christian 7--The No. 1 doubles team of Onesi Gnaniah and Donovann Rodgers swept, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 for Brethren Christian (2-1, 1-1).

In Orange League tennis:

Western 12, Magnolia 6--No. 1 singles player James Yu led host Western with a sweep, 6-3, 6-3, 6-0. Western is 8-1, 2-0; Magnolia is 0-7, 0-1.

In Sea View League tennis:

Woodbridge 15, Saddleback 3--Rajeev Saggar, Woodbridge’s No. 1 singles player, swept his three sets, 6-1, 7-5, 6-0. Woodbridge is 10-2, 3-1. Saddleback fell to 1-3 in league play.

In South Coast League boys’ tennis:

El Toro 14, Irvine 4--Chris Brown helped El Toro win, sweeping his sets, 6-0, 6-0, 6-1. It was first time in 15 years El Toro captured all its singles matches against an opponent. El Toro is 8-2, 2-0. Irvine is 1-1.

In Olympic League girls’ track and field:

Brethren Christian 657, Valley Christian 61--Jennifer Kirkwood won the high jump, long jump and triple jump for the Warriors at Los Alamitos High.
