Loyola Loses Doubleheader to USF

Jon French tripled in the game-winning run in the first game and Chad Baldwin pitched a six-hitter in the second game as the University of San Francisco swept a West Coast Conference doubleheader from Loyola Marymount, 7-6, 4-0, Saturday at San Francisco.

The Dons’ John Tomasello drew a leadoff walk in the bottom of the seventh of the first game before French hit his triple.

Baldwin struck out only two batters in earning the victory, but benefited from three double plays.

San Francisco, which has won five consecutive WCC games, is 11-23 and 8-8 in league play. Loyola is 10-24 and 5-11.

The Lions’ Anthony Napolitano had six hits in his first six at-bats in the doubleheader before flying out in his final two at-bats.

The teams will play a makeup game today at noon.
