Ag Land Plan Misleading

Share

I am opposed to the Ag Land Services development project that has been proposed for the northwest sector of Oxnard near Gonzales Road and Patterson Road. This proposed development would result in the direct loss of 352 acres of prime agricultural land and would open the door to the additional development of approximately 1,200 acres of the remaining prime agricultural land south of Gonzales Road and east of Victoria Road.

The area is included in a green belt proposal under consideration by the county. It would violate the

agreement between LAFCO and

the city of Oxnard, which recognizes Patterson Road as the permanent western boundary for residential and commercial development of the city of Oxnard.

Oxnard cannot afford to extend city services outside the city

limits.

The city should, instead, concentrate on increasing services to citizens within its city limits.

Finally, this proposal will lead to dramatic increases in traffic

congestion and pollution in this area.

Due to the landfill and airport operations, this area is already over-congested and polluted.

Ag Land Services is not representing the interests of our friendly neighborhood farmer as they would have the public believe; rather, Ag Land Services is a large, countywide “land-grabbing” corporation whose only goal is to develop all its land holdings to the fullest financial benefit to themselves.
