MELISSA GILBERT-BRINKMAN, who co-stars in the new Fox comedy series “Stand By Your Man,” and her husband, actor/writer Bo Brinkman, have entered into a lease/option to buy a country ranch-style home behind gates in Hidden Hills.

In her new series, Gilbert-Brinkman plays one of two New Jersey sisters who move in together after their husbands go to prison for bank robbery, but she is probably best known for her role as the young Laura Ingalls on the TV series “Little House on the Prairie” (1974-81).

Gilbert-Brinkman, now 27, also portrayed Helen Keller in a 1979 TV movie of “The Miracle Worker” and played the title role of a 1980 TV version of “The Diary of Anne Frank.” She starred in the 1990 TV movies “Donor” and “Joshua’s Heart.”

She and her husband, whom she married in 1988 after a long romance with actor Rob Lowe, have moved into their new home, valued at about $1.2 million.

After relocating to Hidden Hills from Sherman Oaks a year ago, the Brinkmans were leasing a newly built, contemporary house when they decided they liked the area well enough to buy.

They chose a four-bedroom, 4,000-square-foot home, built in 1955, on an acre with a pool, spa, stables and riding arena.

Dana Olmes of Lois Landau Real Estate in Calabasas represented the Brinkmans in their transaction.

Actor JACK KLUGMAN has put his 40-acre horse ranch in Temecula on the market at $6.5 million.

Klugman, 69, played Captain Bunsby in the 1989 TV movie “Around the World in 80 Days” and won Emmy awards for his co-starring role in the early-1970s series “The Odd Couple.” He also starred in the late-’70s series “Quincy.”

He has owned the property for 10 years. He keeps his horse Jaklin Klugman, which placed third in the 1980 Kentucky Derby, and nearly 40 other thoroughbreds at the ranch.

Klugman decided to sell the property “because it’s just too large for him anymore, and he’s talking about buying one that’s smaller,” said Michael Gantert, who shares the listing with Gosia Miras, both of Prudential/Rodeo Realty’s Sunset Strip office, and John De Bevoise, Prudential Southland Realty, Temecula.

Klugman had a cancerous vocal cord removed in 1989 but revived his “Odd Couple” role last summer in a benefit stage performance on Broadway.

The actor has homes in Malibu, West Los Angeles and on the East Coast as well as at the ranch, where he built a five-bedroom, 8,000-square-foot main house, described as “a Mediterranean-style ranch villa.” A master suite occupies the entire second floor.

There is also a newly built 1,500-square-foot manager’s house on the ranch and two, 1,000-square-foot homes for the ranch hands; boarding facilities for up to 100 thoroughbreds; a swimming pool, spa and tennis court.

Clipper Coach LARRY BROWN has purchased a home two blocks from the ocean in Manhattan Beach.

Built in the 1940s, the three-story, Cape Cod-style house was recently rehabbed. Its entire third floor is a master bedroom with a white-water ocean view. The 2,200-square-foot home also has two other bedrooms.

“He liked the house because it has a lot of closet space,” a source said. “Coaches are more fashion conscious now, thanks to (former Laker Coach) Pat Riley,” he noted.

Brown, who paid about $650,000 for the house in a deal that closed escrow a few days ago, was living in San Antonio before signing with the Clippers this season.

He was represented in the sale by Audrey Judson, Shorewood Realtors, who was unavailable for comment.

Actor KEITH CARRADINE, who starred last year in “The Will Rogers Follies” on Broadway and co-starred with Vanessa Redgrave in the 1991 movie “The Ballad of the Sad Cafe,” has moved to Colorado and put his Topanga Canyon home of six years on the market at $1.2 million.

Carradine, 41, is the son of the late actor John Carradine and the brother of actor David Carradine.

Keith Carradine, his wife, Sandra Ware, and their two school-age children have been living in Southern California and Telluride, Colo., where they have a ranch. They have had a place for about five years in Telluride, where they started a foundation to save an old opera house.

Their Topanga Canyon home has four bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths in 3,000 square feet. Built in 1942 as a California cottage, it has been remodeled over the years. Known as “Casa de Robles,” the home is on nearly two acres and is surrounded by native oak trees.

Described as “a family-oriented home,” the property also has a treehouse, a playhouse with a Jungle Gym and horse corrals. Anne-Christine Von Wetter of Fred Sands’ Malibu office has the listing.

“THE BIRD OF PARADISE HOUSE,” a Palos Verdes home designed by the late architect Lloyd Wright, has come on the market for the first time since being completed in 1967.

Lloyd Wright was the son of renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright. He also designed the Wayfarer’s Chapel on the Palos Verdes Peninsula.

The owner/builder of “The Bird of Paradise House,” John Bowler, and his wife, Jeanne, have decided to move to Seattle, where their grown children live, and have listed the home, complete with Lloyd Wright-designed furnishings and landscaping, at $6.4 million through Kaye Kent at Betty Vokes & Associates.

Built out of concrete and stone in the shape of a Bird of Paradise, the home has four bedrooms plus an attached guest house on 1.5 acres. It also has a cantilevered balcony, a 20-foot high window with a view to Catalina, a swimming pool and horse corrals.

The home was featured in the 1991 film “L.A. Story,” starring Steve Martin.
